Lakeside Condosis a project by Greenland Groups currently in the pre-construction stage. It is a multi-phase high-rise residential development project located on the East Bayfront neighbourhood of Toronto’s waterfront. The condos are built by Hariri Pontarini Architects and has been planned to comprise of three buildings for the first phase at the Lakeshore Blvd. E and Lower Sherbourne area, with each building being 49, 39 and 14 floors high respectively. The proposed number of units for each of the buildings in the first phase has been finalized, the 49 storey, 39 storey and 14 storey buildings will each have 590 units, 376 units and 182 units respectively. The project has been planned to have a total of 8 buildings comprising of a couple of extraordinary condominium towers, a bunch of townhomes and numerous low and mid-rise buildings, an office in the shape of a spire along with a retail space and park. The selling status for the first phase of the project is at the registration level as the Lakeside price list has not been released yet. The tentative occupation date has been set for 2020. This grand development on a land measuring approximately up to 3.8 acres will inevitably carry Toronto’s waterfront district to a world-class status.

The structure of the Condos and its connection with the neighbourhood

The eastern side of the site will be home to the two primary towers and both the towers will be situated atop a podium. Both the towers are devised to work in a certain rhythmic mechanism to look like one sculpted component. Inspired by the two sails of a boat, both the towers are designed to work in a similar fashion as they pose as the main and head sails that trap the wind and the arch shaped exteriors shape the gentle bows. There is pedestrian path leading right up to the Daniels Waterfront promenade. The main arterial roadways and major public transportation can be walked to as the project is quite conveniently placed. Bus routes along the Sherbourne Streets and the Parliament connect to subway stations. Although the numbers are being still worked out by Hariri Pontarini Architects as to how many suites the fully developed project will have and also the amount of unit space that will be available for commercial purpose, it can be expected that there will be exquisite layouts for residing lavishly. A key design characteristic that stands out is the outdoor space offering spacious balconies and terraces. Along with associated dens, the floor plans may vary from one to three bedroom units.
